Rob Taylor struck a brilliant winner as Port Vale came from behind to deservedly beat lacklustre Bradford City 2-1 at Vale Park.

The visitors took a 12th-minute lead when left-back Robbie Threlfall bent a 25-yard free-kick over Vale's defensive wall and into the top corner of Joe Anyon's net.

But Vale, and Marc Richards in particular, only had themselves to blame for being behind after an opening 45 minutes which they largely dominated.

The striker lobbed wide of an open goal in the fifth minute and was later guilty of an even worse miss when he fired straight at City keeper Matt Glennon from six yards.

Richards did equalise five minutes into the second period after a low cross from Taylor rolled straight into his path just four yards from goal with Glennon stranded.

And Vale continued to threaten as Richards and Craig Davies both went close before Taylor landed the decisive blow in the 79th minute. The ball was deflected into the winger's path 20 yards out and he took a touch before sending a dipping volley over Glennon and into the net.
