Defender Mark Little and forward Wade Small will miss Chesterfield's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash against Carlisle on Tuesday (7:30pm).

Little, on loan from Wolves, must serve a one-match ban after he was sent off for two yellow cards in the FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.

His absence will pave the way for either Robert Page, Dan Gray or Phil Picken to return to the starting line-up.

Small returned from a five-match absence with a hamstring injury against the Cherries but only lasted until half-time after picking up an ankle knock. It is hoped he will be fit for the league game against promotion rivals Rochdale at Spotland at the weekend.

After beating Huddersfield in the previous round, Blues boss John Sheridan is looking forward to the visit of another League One opponent.

He said: "Once again it is an attractive tie against a League One side and an early chance for the team to redeem itself after the FA Cup defeat against Bournemouth."
