Forest Green Rovers have confirmed that the first pitch inspection ahead of their clash with Luton Town will be performed on Friday morning.
Ahead of this Saturday's scheduled visit of Luton Town to the New Lawn, close liaison has taken place with Luton Town and the match referee to prevent any unnecessary travelling.
Though the pitch has been fully covered since Tuesday morning with frost covers, (see photo attached) the overnight weather will be crucial as to this first inspection, with snow being forecast for many areas of Gloucestershire and surrounding counties. At the moment the frost sheets seem to be doing their job.
Due to the weather being so unpredictable at this time, several inspection timelines have been agreed, with the first, being an initial club pitch inspection taking place tomorrow (Friday) at 11am.
If any doubt arises from this inspection, a referee appointed by the Football Association will further inspect at 1pm, so allowing the Luton Town squad to travel to their hotel; or not as the case may be.
Arrangements are also in hand that should the match receive clearance after the Friday inspections, a further and final inspection will again be made at 9.30am on Saturday by the match referee.
Should the match then receive final clearance to proceed, the club will be seeking volunteers to remove the frost sheets so ground staff can complete pre-match works. If this is the case an announcement will be made on the club web-site (forum) and via local radio stations.
Rovers and Hatters web-sites will be kept up to speed following all the timelines referred to above.
