The world watched and waited for the FA's director of football development Sir Trevor Brooking to share some wisdom with the gathered media at Thursday's press conference at Wembley.

The former England international sat alongside FA chairman David Bernstein, managing director of Club England Adrian Bevington and FA general secretary Alex Horne as the trio fended off questions over the resignation of Fabio Capello and the future direction of the England team.

Brooking, though, fidgeted through the 30-minute-long press conference before shuffling off, having not said a word.
