TEAMtalk rates the England players following the 1-1 World Cup qualifying Group H draw in Poland on Wednesday.

JOE HART: Denied Ludovic Obraniak at the start of the second half as Poland flew forward but his mistake gifted hosts an equaliser. 6.

GLEN JOHNSON: It is often asked why he gets picked. Tonight he showed why with two magnificent interventions either side of the break. 8.

ASHLEY COLE: Marked his 99th cap by getting booked in the first-half. Under pressure for most of the contest. 6.

STEVEN GERRARD: England's best player during that difficult opening half hour. Won the corner, then took it as Three Lions went ahead. 7.

PHIL JAGIELKA: Not entirely foot perfect and at 30, he will never be as good as Ferdinand or Terry. Never panicked though and positioning was mostly good. 7.

JOLEON LESCOTT: Must become the physical presence in England's defence and did it well at times, even if there were a few shaky moments. 6.

JAMES MILNER: Manager's joy. Sticks to his task. Linking attacks or nipping back for tackles but there was a lack of quality and sharpness about his play. 6.

MICHAEL CARRICK: Passing not as accurate as normal, which put England under pressure at times. Always an outlet though. 6.

JERMAIN DEFOE (off 66): Loads of unselfish running but hardly any of the ball. Won't remember his trip to Warsaw with much affection. 6.

WAYNE ROONEY (off 72): Poor performance, then 32nd England goal. Should have been 33 though, letting Poland off the hook. Substituted late on. 6.

TOM CLEVERLEY: Doesn't have the mentality of a wide man, so drifts inside too often. Probably why he moved in permanently after half-time. 6.

SUBSTITUTES

DANNY WELBECK (on 66): Injected some much needed life into England's attack, and set up Rooney for what was a poor miss. 7.

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN (on 72): England were better after he came on. Marginally. 6.
