TEAMtalk rates the players' performances as Manchester City were held to a 1-1 Champions League draw by Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.

MAN CITY:

JOE HART: Despite the early onslaught from the visitors, the goalkeeper actually had little to do. 5

MAICON: Showed his defensive vulnerability during a torrid opening quarter as Real threatened to run riot but was useful in attack. 4

VINCENT KOMPANY: Made some timely interventions but was also caught out once or twice. 6

MATIJA NASTASIC: Made a vital clearance off the line to deny Ronaldo on what was a busy evening. 6

PABLO ZABALETA: City looked more assured after the Argentinian switched to left-back. 6

ALEKSANDAR KOLAROV: Featured little during the first half and removed at the break. 5

YAYA TOURE: Unable to exert his usual influence as City were pegged back and his booking means he is suspended for the final game. 6

SAMIR NASRI: Starved of possession early on but became more of a threat before being withdrawn on the hour. 6

DAVID SILVA: One of City's most influential performers, tried to get attacks going. 8

EDIN DZEKO: Gave City a physical presence up front but when the opportunities came, his touch let him down. 5

SERGIO AGUERO: The hosts' better attacks inevitably tended to involve the Argentinian, who along with Silva ensured City remained dangerous. 8

SUBSTITUTES:

JAVI GARCIA (on for Kolarov, 46): His arrival allowed Toure to join the attacks more. 5

CARLOS TEVEZ (on for Nasri, 69): Added bite up front but unable to claim a vital goal. 6

JAMES MILNER (on for Aguero, 88): Strange late substitution that made little difference. 5

REAL MADRID:

IKER CASILLAS: Occasionally looked uncertain under the high ball but shot-stopping was excellent. 7

ALVARO ARBELOA: Exposed a couple of times but the red card was probably harsh. 5

SERGIO RAMOS: Asserted his authority with a good early challenge on Dzeko. 6

PEPE: Formed a strong backline with Ramos but was increasingly tested as the game wore on. 6

FABIO COENTRAO: Made some good interceptions and threatened in attack. 6

SAMI KHEDIRA: Dynamic force in the Real midfield, regularly getting forward, but his finishing let him down. 8

XABI ALONSO: Showed all his usual composure and range of passing to keep Real ticking. 7

ANGEL DI MARIA: Brilliant cross for the opening goal left City chasing the game. 7

LUKA MODRIC: Often found in support of Real's early attacks but was withdrawn in the second half. 6

CRISTIANO RONALDO: Goalless on his return to Manchester but did anything but score in an incisive performance. 8

KARIM BENZEMA: Looked a constant threat up front but missed a good chance to double his and his team's tally. 7

SUBSTITUTES:

JOSE CALLEJON (on for Modric, 68): Brought fresh legs in the City midfield. 6

RAPHAEL VARANE (on for Benzema, 74): Had little impact in the game. 5

RAUL ALBIOL (on for Di Maria, 90):Wasted a few seconds late on. n/a
