£25m Michael Keane transfer expected ‘in next couple of days’

Burnley defender Michael Keane is expected to join Everton for £25million  in the next couple of days, according to a report.

The 24-year-old impressed last season and made 35 Premier League appearances as the Clarets avoided relegation to the Championship.

He caught the eye of England manager Gareth Southgate and made his international debut against Germany in March, adding to his 16 caps at U21 level.

SunSport are reporting that the deal is “very close” to being finalised and there are “just a few things left to be sorted”, and the fee of £25m meets Burnley’s original valuation.

With Keane entering the final year of his contract, Burnley were reportedly prepared to keep hold of him if their valuation was not met, and risk losing him for nothing next summer.

It is believed that Keane turned down the chance to return to former club Manchester United after they completed the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has already spent £30m on Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and £24m on Ajax play-maker Davy Klaassen, and is expected to finalise a deal for Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez imminently.
