Manchester United and Chelsea target Tiemoue Bakayoko has reportedly rejected a contract extension at Monaco.
AS Monaco central midfielder Bakayoko is believed to have snubbed an initial deal extension from the Principality side, according to Le Parisien journalist Florian Fieschi.
The French midfielder has been the subject of summer interest from Chelsea and United and in December claimed a move to the Premier League would be a “dream”.
In December the 22-year-old made it clear he would not be leaving in January, but there is “currently a bit of tension between Monaco and the player”, according to Get French Football News.
“I have had six good first months, but the season is not over. I will not leave Monaco this winter, that is a certainty,” Bakayoko told Eurosport in December.
“I do not want to leave. ASM is a beautiful institution. Certainly, the Premier League is a dream, but I have no reason to leave this winter.
“Today I have two goals: to finish champion of France and to go as far as possible in the Champions League.”
Monaco have apparently put a £40million price tag on the the defensive midfielder, but the London Evening Standard claimed that Chelsea will still test them with a bid for the player who is under contract until June 2019.
