Paris St Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he hoped for better from Javier Pastore this season.
The Argentine playmaker joined PSG in a mega-money move from Palermo in the summer of 2011 and played superbly at the start of his time in the French capital.
However, his level of performance has deteriorated and he is no longer a regular starter at the Parc des Princes.
Ancelotti has been very honest in his assessments of the player and appreciates that nobody will be more frustrated than Pastore himself.
The Italian coach believes it must be a mental issue and has backed Pastore to regain top form if he carries on working hard.
"I am disappointed with his performances and I believe he is disappointed too," Ancelotti told reporters.
"He works a lot and is focused to improve his fitness and confidence.
"I am no psychologist, I am a coach. I believe Javier has lost some confidence and qualities on the pitch, so he has to find trust again and I can help him."
