Adam Lallana admits the excitement of Jurgen Klopp’s appointment at Anfield has gripped the Liverpool contingent within the England squad.
Klopp has replaced Brendan Rodgers at the helm of the Reds, and Lallana believes he is the perfect man to return the club to their past glories.
“I’m very excited to work with him. I saw the press conference and the reaction he was getting and I think it’s going to be an exciting time,” the midfielder said.
“He came across very well. It was a good press conference. I’ve got one more game with England to worry about first, but I’ll be excited to get back to the club afterwards.
“I’m sure there are a few new things going on. I’m really looking forward to the week and the game at the end of it, and trying to get three points against Tottenham on Saturday.”
The 27-year-old has struggled to break into the Liverpool side this season following an indifferent first campaign in which he failed to display the form which earned him a £25million move from Southampton.
Injuries have stunted his progress, but Lallana is backing himself to get back to his best now he is fully fit.
“It is a big season for me,’” he said. “Last year was frustrating. Even the beginning for this season has been frustrating, picking up another injury.
“I’ve found myself not playing, but there’s the Europa League and the League Cup. I am working really hard to keep fit because if I stay fit the club will see the best of me.”
