Tosin Adarabioyo has welcomed the chance he was given to play in Manchester City’s first team on Sunday – despite being on the wrong end of a big Chelsea scoreline.
Defender Adarabioyo was one of the City players to benefit from Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to make nine changes and prioritise Wednesday’s Champions League last-16 first leg at Dynamo Kiev.
Adarabioyo hopes the fact six teenagers played for City will show there is a pathway to the first team.
The 18-year-old, one of five full debutants, said on City TV: “I think this will inspire a lot of the youngsters to work really hard. You can see the results of us five starting, to try to get into the first team.
“It was a very good experience for all of us to play against the Premier League champions. We all learnt something.
“They’re a lot older than us. We had a lot of youth players in the team. Experience comes down to it (the result).”
