Juventus’ determination to hold onto left-back Alex Sandro until the summer has reportedly made Manchester United the favourites to land the Chelsea target.
The Italian champions are not prepared to let the Brazilian leave in the winter window, fearing it will cause even more disruption to an already much-changed back line.
That news will impact more on Antonio Conte’s men than United, as Jose Mourinho has always been prepared to wait to get this man while Chelsea are looking for immediate competition for Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back spot.
The report in The Independent states Chelsea are likely to move on to other targets if they cannot land the 26-year-old this month, with Porto star Alex Telles another potential target.
United have a plethora of left-back options but Mourinho does not seem 100 per cent happy with any of them and is looking for an upgrade in that position.
However, with Ashley Young performing so well in the role, the United chief is prepared to be patient and get his man in the summer.
