Afobe listening out for results

Wolves still have an outside chance of sealing a top-six finish but need both Derby and Brentford to lose whilst they must beat Millwall at Molineux.

The Lions are already relegated after Rotherham United’s 2-1 win over Reading on Tuesday night ensured the Millers will be playing Championship football next season.

“People in the crowd and on the bench will be keeping us updated on scores from around the country,” Afobe told Sky Sports News HQ.

“But we just have to concentrate on our task here at Molineux – that said I’ll want to know what’s going on.

“The manager said ‘I don’t remember a team getting 70-odd points and not getting promoted’ – every team around us has pushed and done so well, it just shows how hard this season has been.”

Afobe, who spent the first half of the season on loan with MK Dons, admits even he is surprised at scoring 32 goals this season – including 13 of those since a £2m transfer to Molineux from Arsenal in mid-January.

“I’ve always believed in my own ability and I’ve always scored goals but even I didn’t expect to get 32 in a season it’s been fantastic,” he added.

“I don’t really know why I have but I did work on my finishing and timing this year and a lot of it is down to muscle memory.”
