Fenerbahçe are “serious” in their pursuit for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil and could make a move in the summer, according to the player’s agent.
German international Ozil revealed his desire to play for Fenerbahçe at some point during his career in July, saying: “In the future I want to wear a Fenerbahçe shirt. It would be an honour. Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahçe fan.”
Arsene Wenger has previously stated that the club-record signing is not for sale after Juventus were credited with an interest in the summer.
“Look, I never spoke to him on that front or on a football front as well,” Wenger said last month.
“But the suggestions are created always by people who – I don’t know, want to create news, but there is nothing concrete in that.
“He’s an important player for our team and he’s a player of course we count on to continue our development and our success.”
However, Ozil’s agent, Erkut Sogut, has told Turkish newspaper Vatan that Fenerbahçe’s interest in the 26-year-old is concrete, and that the club will look to do a deal at the end of the season.
“Fenerbahçe are serious but it all depends on what answer Arsenal give. It will all become clear at the end of the season.”
