Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero hopes to develop his understanding with Kevin De Bruyne after labelling the Belgian a “great piece of business” for the club.

De Bruyne has scored six times since his club record £54million move from Wolfsburg in August – and has developed a good understanding with eight-goal marksman Aguero.

The first hint of a strong alliance between the two came at the start of October when De Bruyne assisted for two of Aguero’s five goals in a 6-1 victory over Newcastle United.

Former Atletico Madrid forward Aguero has been out with a hamstring in recent weeks and has seen his team-mate impress in his absence.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy because I think the club did a great piece of business bringing Kevin in. You are always happy when a quality player arrives and he is certainly that.

Nicolas Otamendi is another player who has made his presence felt after a shaky start to his City career.

The defender produced a man-of-the-match display in the 0-0 derby draw with Manchester United last month and Aguero has heaped praise on his countryman.

He added: “Nico is a good player who will help our team and the more Argentinians the better as far as I’m concerned.

“We need a big squad because we’ve got lots of games and many competitions we’re trying to win and all the players we’ve brought in over the summer have made us stronger.”
