Al-Habsi gets Royals chance

The Oman international left Wigan earlier this summer and will now spend the next few days with Steve Clarke’s side as he looks to impress.

A Reading statement said: “The Royals are pleased to have goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi training with us in the coming days, with a view to a possible permanent stay.

“Al-Habsi has made than 100 Premier League appearances and has over 100 international caps, and joined up with the Royals on Thursday morning.

“The next few days’ training give both the club and Ali the opportunity to get to know each other better, and the 33-year-old brings a wealth of experience.

“Ali will train under our new goalkeeping coach Dave Beasant, who began working with the club this week.”
