Scott Davies is set to make his third debut for Aldershot as the club refocus their efforts on league matters following their Carling Cup adventure.
The midfielder, 23, on Thursday returned to the Recreation Ground on loan from Crawley until January 7 having previously spent season-long stints with the Shots in 2007/08 and 2008/09.
He arrives just days after Dean Holdsworth’s proud side bowed out of the League Cup courtesy of a respectable 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United.
Aldershot lost four successive matches immediately after being paired with United in the fourth round but returned to winning ways in last weekend’s 5-2 triumph at Dagenham & Redbridge, and Holdsworth will be hoping for more of the same.
Midfielder Alex Rodman will be assessed having been forced off at half-time against United with a shoulder injury, while on-loan left-back Jordan Brown has returned to West Ham following the completion of his stay, although he failed to make the matchday 18 in midweek.
Meanwhile Crewe manager Dario Gradi has a welcome selection headache for the clash.
The veteran boss is boosted by having a fully-fit squad at his disposal given a trio of players are set to make their returns.
Utility-man Ashley Westwood, forward Ajay Leitch-Smith and striker Max Clayton have been suffering from heel, calf and hamstring injuries respectively.
However, they are making good progress and should feature against a Shots side that earned plenty of plaudits following a brave display in their 3-0 midweek Carling Cup loss to Manchester United.
Defender David Artell came on in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Cheltenham following a hamstring problem and will feature once again.
Danny Shelley made his return from an ankle injury against the Robins and will be involved, most likely from the bench.
