Sam Allardyce has confirmed that former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue could win a short-term deal if he can prove his fitness.
The 32-year-old has been without a club since the summer, when his contract with Turkish giants Galatasaray expired.
Eboue last played a competitive match in May and we revealed on Thursday morning that he is now training with the Black Cats as he looks to find a new club.
But Allardyce admits the trial could lead to a deal if the full-back can prove himself.
He said: “Obviously, he’s not played for a long time and if he has got any sort of quality left that he had and showed showed at Arsenal, then he may later down the line be able to secure a short-term contract with us.”
