Ancelotti discusses potential Premier League return; Bayern sacking

Carlo Ancelotti has been reflecting on his exit from Bayern Munich and when he is likely to return to management.

The Italian was axed as coach of the reigning Bundesliga champions after the 3-0 Champions League loss to PSG at the end of September and was immediately linked with a return to the Premier League.

It was rumoured that Chelsea were looking to turn to their former boss as a potential replacement for the unhappy Antonio Conte, while Everton are also on the hunt for a new manager after Ronald Koeman’s departure.

But it would appear that Ancelotti is just focused on taking a break for the time being after his surprise exit from Bayern.

He told Radio Anch’io lo Sport on Monday morning: “The reason behind the sacking is not Neuer’s injury. He is a great goalkeeper and his injury has affected us but that’s not the main reason.

“I’ve been a football manager for the last 20 years, I know big clubs want to see results even if you can’t make any judgement in September.

“I have time to watch football now, I am looking for new opportunities but not from now. My contract with Bayern expires at the end of the season and that’s when I’ll start listening to new offers.

“I want a serious project that can give me time and serenity even though I know it’s not easy. I am just waiting something will come.”

“Premier League is a very interesting league of course. The atmosphere is amazing there even if Bundesliga stadiums are also great.

“I don’t know where I could end up, Italy is a solution as well. Every days there are new speculations about my future. Croatia, China, Everton, Chelsea. Don’t make my friend Antonio [Conte] upset, I always talk to him.”
