Leeds managing director Angus Kinnear has thanked the club’s fans after reporting season ticket sales have risen by more than 40 % this year.

The Sky Bet Championship club have announced over 20,000 season tickets have been sold compared with 14,000 for the 2016/17 campaign.

“We just want to say a huge thank you to the supporters who have committed their hard-earned money to support their team,” Kinnear said.

“To see season ticket growth of over 40 per cent is remarkable and a testimony to our fans’ unrivalled loyalty.

“We know how much the support means to (head coach) Thomas Christiansen and the players and it is clear that our fans are doing everything they can to try and push the club forward, which we truly appreciate it.”

Leeds confirmed average home attendances are up by 6,601 for the opening two games of the season, with crowds of over 30,000 expected at Elland Road for upcoming Championship fixtures against Burton and Birmingham.
