Jorge Mendes is hoping to push a third signing on Manchester United this summer and the club are believed to be interested in the player.
United have asked to be kept informed of developments over Monaco right-back Fabinho, according to the Daily Mail. The club have had a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old Brazil international and they are still tracking the player, who could cost in excess of £20million.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed earlier in the summer that super agent Mendes, who has already delivered Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to United, was eager to get Fabinho to Old Trafford and now the tabloid claims Monaco have promised Fabinho they will allow him to leave this summer.
Napoli and Manchester City have also checked on the former Real Madrid Castilla player, who saw a proposed £12million move to Napoli fall through earlier this month because of the fee.
Reports over the weekend once again suggested Mourinho was sweet on a move for Fabinho, although the new United boss did say at his first press conference he was targeting four new players and three of those are now in place.
“We made a nucleus of four positions as priority to give a certain balance to the squad, and a push in terms of quality that I want,” Mourinho said, with Eric Bailly already joining Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan with Paul Pogba believed to be his fourth target.
With that in mind it’s unlikely a move for the full-back will materialise before the end of August, but it’s a move that Mourinho may well revisit in the winter transfer window when he has seen his charges in Premier League action for six months.
