A decision from Jamie Vardy on his proposed £20m move from Leicester to Arsenal is ‘not imminent’, according to local newspaper Leicester Mercury.
Early reports had suggested that the shock move would be completed quickly and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud did nothing to cool the rumours when he suggested Vardy was keen to move to the Emirates and join forces with the Frenchman.
However, Leicester have reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to keep their star striker by offering another new, improved deal, but it is unclear whether they have matched the four-year deal worth £44m which Arsenal have said to have tabled.
With PSG reportedly stepping up their interest in Foxes midfielder N’Golo Kante, Claudio Ranieri could face the arduous task of having to re-build his Premier League title-winning side ahead of the new season.
Leicester are believed to be in talks with many first-team members over new contract extensions, but only goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and defender Danny Simpson appear to be the closest to committing their futures.
