Anthony Martial: Linked with moves away from United

The 28-year-old yet to appear for the Iron following his arrival in January, also hopes to challenge Luke Daniels for the number one jersey.

“I want to help Scunthorpe United in any way I can to get them back into the Championship,” Anyon told the club’s offical website.

“Being at the (club’s) player of the year awards, the chairman made it clear he wants top six this season.

“That’s what we’ve got to look for. It’s a pressure we’d like to have and it’s one we can embrace. It’s achievable.”

The former Port Vale and Lincoln keeper was released by Shrewsbury last summer and then struggled with illness before signing a short-term deal at Glanford Park at the tun of the year.

“I was out ill from pre-season and all the way through,” he added. “I then came here in January and it was a case of me getting fit and showing the manager and the staff what I can do.

“To be rewarded with a two-year deal at the end of it, I can only be happy with that.

“I’ve got to come back in the best possible shape and ready to push Luke all the way.”
