Arsene Wenger has delivered an update on Arsenal’s current injury situation ahead of the Gunners’ clash with Watford on Saturday.
Midfield duo Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky have returned to full training, alongside goalkeeper Petr Cech.
On whether Wilshere, who has not featured at all this season, could appear for the under-21s, the Arsenal boss said: “Not yet, no, we have not decided that yet.
“It is his first week back in full training and we’ll see how he responds to that, but the first signs are quite good. We’ll assess our options next week.
“Cech is going back to normal training [but] it’s too early to say if he will be available for the weekend. He might be a bit short to be competitive.”
Arsenal head into the final eight games of the season aiming to overturn an 11-point gap between themselves and league leaders Leicester City.
And Wenger is hoping to welcome back a further quartet of injured midfielders over the coming weeks.
“[Aaron] Ramsey will not be available for this weekend, but hopefully next weekend. Santi Cazorla is running again outside so it should be three to four weeks more training for Santi,” he said.
“[Mathieu] Flamini is short for this weekend but could be available next weekend. [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain is progressing well.”
