Jamie Vardy: Could be leaving champions Leicester

Arsenal have reportedly made a move to add to their striking options by meeting the £22m release clause in Jamie Vardy’s Leicester contract.

The Guardian have revealed that although it was not Vardy’s decision initially to include the clause in the new three-year contract he signed back in January, Leicester would not stand in his way if he expresses a desire to leave the King Power Stadium.

The 29-year-old striker, who joined the Foxes from Fleetwood for £1m back in 2012, notched up 24 goals last season and is currently with the England squad as they prepare for their Euro 2016 opener against Russia on June 11.

Vardy had attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in the last transfer window, but it now appears that Arsene Wenger is the man to make the first move as the Gunners look to launch a more sustained title challenge next season and provide competition for Olivier Giroud.
