Mauro Icardi: Closing in on Arsenal move?

Mauro Icardi has ended speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool in January after insisting he is happy to stay at Inter Milan.

The Argentine forward has been linked with a move to the Premier League in January, with Chelsea also reported to be among his suitors.

But Icardi says has “no intention” of leaving Inter in January, telling Italian outlet Mediaset: “It’s transfers rumours. The papers talk, but I’ll stay at Inter like I did last year.”

The 22-year-old has scored four goals in 11 Serie A appearances this season after netting an impressing 22 league goals last season.

Icardi signed a new four-year deal at the San Siro in June and was rewarded with the captain’s armband at the club in a clear statement of intent that Inter plan to build their team around the player.

And Icardi’s latest comments would suggest Premier League clubs might have to turn their attentions elsewhere with the player seemingly comfortable in his current surroundings.
