Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is becoming increasingly confident that Mesut Ozil will stay at Arsenal.
Fielding further questions about the German’s future following the sale of Alexis Sanchez, Wenger praised his continued commitment.
Ozil has been Arsenal’s best player this season, which Wenger sees as proof of his happiness at the club.
The manager believes that a new contract could be announced very soon.
“Our intention is to keep Ozil at the club,” Wenger said.
“Hopefully, we will manage to do that very soon. Not close enough to be optimistic but not far enough to be pessimistic.
“The vibe I get from his commitment, focus and desire, he behaves like someone who is ready to commit.
“After that, contract negotiations are what they are. We aren’t close enough to tell you yes, he will stay.”
