Arsenal are reported to be considering a summer offer for Celtic attacking midfielder Tom Rogic.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on Rogic all season and now looks set to follow up his interest as the 23-year-old enters the final 12 months of his contract at Celtic.
However, the Gunners could yet face competition, with scouts from La Liga and the Serie A set to attend the upcoming England versus Australia friendly to assess Rogic’s ability to perform against stars of the Premier League.
Playing behind the forward line, Rogic has been crucial in the Bhoys’ title win this campaign, scoring nine goals in all competitions after overcoming double groin surgery and ankle injuries.
Despite the interest, the Australia international said in February he was keen on extending his stay at Parkhead.
“I know there was a story today suggesting that I want to leave Celtic. This is simply not the case at all,” he told the Scottish Sun.
He reiterated those claims last month, telling Celtic View: “This season as a whole has been a really positive one for me.
“I’ve come off the back of a really tough period of injury and having not really played a minute last season, to reach 30-odd games this season and 50 overall is pleasing.
“Hopefully there is more to come. It has been enjoyable and I just want to kick-on from here. Anything can happen in football but I’m proud to be here and I’m looking forward to the future.”
