Arsenal are leading three other clubs in the race to sign £20million-rated Inter Milan centre-half Jeison Murillo, according to reports in Italy.
Gazetta dello Sport claim that the Gunners have made an opening £15million offer in an attempt to attract the Colombian defender to North London ahead of their rivals.
Murillo was mentioned as a possible target for Manchester United during the January transfer window, but it appears Arsene Wenger has now identified the player as a key target, with Per Mertesacker tipped to leave the Emirates this summer.
However, the paper claims Arsenal will face stiff opposition for the player, with Premier League champions Leicester, as well as Stoke and Russain side Zenit also expressing an interest in the former Granada centre-half.
Arsenal’s opening offer, however, is believed to be short of Inter’s asking price, with the Italians valuing the 24-year-old at nearing the £20million (25million euros) mark.
