Arsenal are apparently back in for Argentinian teenager Maxi Romero as they look to add three youngsters and also a top-class striker to their squad.
Arsene Wenger has hinted he will make three first-team signings this summer, with Granit Xhaka expected to be the first in a £30million deal from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Wenger also wants to sign a top striker and has made Juventus’ Alvaro Morata his top target, according to the Daily Mirror, though the Gunners could face competition from Manchester United for the Spaniard.
Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, 23, is said to be available and has been linked with a move to Emirates Stadium, but the newspaper says Wenger has cooled his interest in the Argentine.
They are likely to find it much easier to sign Romero, however.
Arsenal had agreed a £4.5million deal to sign the striker from Velez Sarsfield last summer, but the 17-year-old suffered a knee ligament injury before he was due to sign, scuppering the transfer.
Wenger has retained an interest, though, and will now look to push through a deal providing Romero can prove his fitness.
The north Londoners are also in talks to sign Bolton’s England Under-21 defender Rob Holding, 20, and Celtic left back Kieran Tierney, 18, the newspaper adds.
