Bordeaux forward Malcom will be sold in the summer to balance the Ligue 1 club’s books.
The £50million-rated Brazilian has not been shy over his desire to leave France and the 21-year-old was hoping to move on in January, but Nicolas de Tavernost says the player will be transferred at the end of the season.
The chairman of M6 – the majority shareholder of the club – said at a shareholder’s general meeting the club’s losses in the first half of the year stemmed from not selling a player they are likely to sell in the second half.
He followed that up by saying “a major Brazilian” who wants to leave will be allowed to do so in the summer.
Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with Malcom, who has scored nine goals and added six assists this season.
“There are always purchases and sales being made, and there is a major Brazilian player whom you know he wants to leave the club and we will do it in the most absolute respect of our interests,” de Tavernost told sudouest. “That’s why we first bought this player and then [will eventually sell him] in the off season.”
Malcom arrived at the club from Corinthians in January 2015, for a reported €5million, but he’s likely to be sold for ten times that this summer.
