Alexandre Lacazette: Said to be a target for Man Utd

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has suggested Arsenal were one of two Premier League clubs to bid £50m for striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The French striker was the subject of a rejected £29million bid last summer, but Aulas has now revealed that both Arsenal, and possibly West Ham, both returned with significantly improved offers that were also turned down.

“This summer, we rejected €55m for Lacazette from two Premier League clubs and €37m from Napoli for Tolisso,” he told Tuttosport.

Aulas has been known for citing inflated transfer fees in the past, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will return for the man viewed by some as Oliver Giroud’s long-term replacement in January with another statement bid.
