Arsenal sink Potters at Emirates

Andrey Arshavin slotted home from a tight angle in the first half minutes after Cesc Fabregas had missed a penalty.

After a largely frustrating second half, impressive substitute Aaron Ramsey (79) sealed the win with a cool finish.

Arshavin was tripped in the penalty area by Rory Delap, but Fabregas’ poor penalty was easily repelled by Thomas Sorensen.

But Arshavin opened the scoring moments later when he held off Andy Wilkinson to slide his shot into the corner.

Fabregas then saw a shot deflect onto the post before his second effort was blocked on the line by Emmanuel Eboue.

However the Gunners did make it 2-0 when Ramsey picked the ball up on the edge of the box and finished with the outside of his right boot.
