Arsenal star Aubameyang left irked by Europa League ruling

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit out at the UEFA ruling that prevents him from playing for the Gunners in the Europa League.

The Gabon striker is unable to represent Arsenal in the Europa League on a technicality after his former club Borussia Dortmund finished third in their Champions League group and dropped down in the competition.

Aubameyang is effectively cup-tied despite not playing in the Europa League this season and has missed both legs against Ostersunds as well as last week’s 2-0 victory at AC Milan.

Arsene Wenger has already expressed his annoyance at the ruling and now Aubameyang has also had his say.

“I am really frustrated because the rules are a bit – I don’t know how to say in English but I am disappointed because I can’t help my team,” he said.

“That’s life. I have to deal with it. I can’t play every three days. When I was in Dortmund, I was playing every three days but now I play once a week or have a long time between games. It is not easy.”
