Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has dealt Arsenal a blow in the transfer market by ruling out selling one of his central defenders.
Dortmund have already lost one key central defender in Mats Hummels this summer and Tuchel is determined not to see his defence weakened any further.
Speculation about the 22-year-old’s future intensified when he was left out of a recent pre-season squad but Tuchel, who did admit that there has been interest, said he would not be sold under any circumstances.
“With Ginter, I think everything is said,” Tuchel told reporters. “German clubs wanted to sign him and now English clubs want to sign him.
“I don’t know if everything is true or it is just rumours but we made our point clear – Matthias is our player and stays our player.”
Arsenal are still said to be in the market for a new defender, despite the recent £2m arrival of Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers.
