Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool future was thrust further into doubt as reports have emerged linking the forward with a surprise move to La Liga.
Rumours circulated on Tuesday that Mario Balotelli had been offered in a permanent deal to AC Milan, where he is currently on loan, in exchange for their French starlet M’Baye Niang. This offer was apparently ‘point blank refused’ by the Italian club.
On Wednesday however, there are reports on Catalan radio station RAC that Espanyol have made an offer for the 25-year-old Liverpool outcast.
In addition, Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that Espanyol are interested in signing the 25-year-old as they look to reinforce after a disappointing campaign in which they finished 13th.
His loan spell in Serie A has not gone ideally, as he has scored just one Serie A goal in 20 appearances this season.
Like Milan, Espanyol would like to get the player on a free loan, but would be prepared to pay his wages.
Speaking last month, ‘Super Mario’ admitted his intentions are to stay at San Siro in an interview with Mediaset Premium.
“What I want is certainly to stay at Milan. I was not happy at Liverpool and I do not want to go back there.
“I’ve been doing well in my last two games. There are another six for me to prove myself.”
