Daley Blind: Subject of Barcelona bid, say reports

Barcelona have been linked with a £14million move for Manchester United defender Daley Blind, according to reports in Spain.

Blind, who can play in either central defence or midfield, started his career at Ajax and became a product of the Dutch club’s famous youth system.

The Dutchman made several key performances during Holland’s 2014 World Cup campaign and later ended a six-year spell with Ajax after signing for the Red Devils for £13.8million in the summer of 2014.

During his two years at Old Trafford, Blind has made a string of impressive performances and formed a strong partnership with Chris Smalling in the United defence during the 2015/16 campaign.

But according to recent reports in Spanish newspaper Sport, they claim Barcelona are willing to make a £14million bid in an attempt to lure the 26-year-old to the Nou Camp.

The recently-crowned La Liga champions are believed to have made Blind their top transfer target, with his versatility seen as a vital asset.

The reports have come after claims of a summer clear-out at Old Trafford following Jose Mourinho’s recent arrival at the club.

Mourinho is said to not rate Blind and he could be shown the exit door alongside other first-team stars such as Juan Mata, who Mourinho sold to United for £38.1million in January 2014.
