Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta is on Barcelona’s list of potential targets, according to a report.
The Telegraph reports that the Spain international is one of a several players they are looking at to replace Dani Alves, who has left the Nou Camp for Juventus.
The Catalan club are on the lookout for a new right-back and Arsenal star Hector Bellerin is “their number one priority” but with the Gunners poised to offer Bellerin a new deal to keep him at The Emirates, Barca have drawn up a list of other options. And Azpilicueta is believed to be one of those on their short-list.
Azpilicueta, 26, has also been linked with Athletic Bilbao, but he has a contract at Stamford Bridge that runs until 2019 and in March he said he was happy to remain with the west Londoners for another “few years”.
“I plan on staying another few years at Chelsea,” said Azpilicueta. “I’m very happy there. I’m not thinking about leaving the club. I’m only thinking of (playing for) the Blues.
“But if I have to leave it would be for a club where I could develop even more than at Chelsea.”
A switch to the La Liga giants would most probably appeal to the Pamploma-born right-sided defender, who plays on the left for Chelsea.
Azpilicueta was signed as a right-back in 2012 for £7million and has made 15 appearances for Spain in the position, but the Blues have preferred to play him at left-back with Branislav Ivanovic preferred at right-back.
