Barcelona target shock season-long loan move for Man Utd man

Barcelona are reportedly considering a shock loan move for Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw this summer.

The United defender has failed to hold down a regular place under Jose Mourinho and has been at the centre of public criticism from the United chief.

Yet, The Sun claims that the 22-year-old is first choice on Barca’s summer wishlist — although only for a season-long loan.

The Catalan giants are said to have allocated funds to bring in Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, while they are also paying off the £142million fee to Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho.

Shaw, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham, seems almost certain to quit Old Trafford this summer after he once again criticised by Mourinho when he was taken off at half-time of the 2-0 FA Cup win over Brighton last month.

The England international joined United from Southampton in 2014 but has been troubled by injuries and held to account by Mourinho for not having the right lifestyle to be a top Premier League player.

Barca are said to be on the hunt for a new left-back due to doubts over Jordi Alba’s long-term future at the club.
