Barcelona expect fierce rivals Real Madrid to be hit with the same transfer ban that they have been working under for the last year.
The Catalan giants have not been able to register any new players over the last 12 months, meaning news signings such as Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal cannot make their debuts until the new year.
Barcelona were hit with the embargo after FIFA found they had broken a rule which states no player under the age of 18 can switch national federations unless both their parents move countries for reasons unrelated to football.
And according to the Daily Mail, the club believe Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have broken the same rule.
The timing of any such ban could be crucial as it would have a knock-on effect on the whole transfer window.
Should a ban be imposed after January then the two clubs in question would be likely to still be able to register new players in the summer while an appeal process occurs.
If it is imposed earlier then it would mean a deal such as Chelsea star Eden Hazard to Real Madrid would be off, which would also make it unlikely that Los Blancos sell Cristiano Ronaldo.
