Lothar Matthaus believes Alexis Sanchez versatility would make him “a good signing” for Bayern Munich.
Sanchez has a contract at Arsenal until June 2018 and he is believed to be locked in talks with the club over an extension. So far though no agreement has been made despite reports the club are prepared to offer him £300,000 a week.
Arsene Wenger has always stated that he believes the Chile forward wants to stay at The Emirates, but that difficult part was agreeing a deal with the player’s agent.
“I believe that basically he wants to stay at the club and it’s down to finding an agreement with his agent.
“I think the players first have to see are they are happy to the club and after (that) most of the time it’s down to finding an agreement, but the finances are involved in it, yes,” Wenger said earlier this month.
That has not stopped the speculation though and several of Europe’s big guns have been tracking Sanchez’s situation including Bayern, PSG, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
And Matthaus, 56, who managed Bulgaria in 2010-11, says Sanchex would represent a great signing for the impending Bundesliga champions.
“Sanchez is a great player, he would be a good signing for Bayern,” Matthaus told AZ.
“His biggest pro is that he can play in a central role up front and on the wings.”
