Pep Guardiola “cannot just shove aside” Bayern Munich’s contract offer, according to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who is “optimistic” over an agreement.
Guardiola’s current deal expires at the end of this season and the Spanish coach has been in no hurry to commit his future again to the Bundesliga champions.
Bayern chief-executive Rummenigge, however, remains calm over Guardiola’s situation and is confident the club’s offer will convince the firmer Barcelona coach to sign.
“I am optimistic about Pep’s renewal,” Rummenigge told Bild.
“We have a great offer on the table, which you cannot just shove aside.
“We have a first-class team, a fantastic club, a great stadium and a wonderful city to offer.
“We will have a serious conversation with Pep in the upcoming weeks and we will see what comes from that.
“I want to win the Champions League again – with Guardiola in charge.”
