Hector Bellerin insists he has no intention of leaving Arsenal despite reports of interest from his former club Barcelona.
Bellerin was one of the few positives to come out of another underwhelming season from Arsenal, firmly establishing himself as the club’s first-choice right-back, making 44 appearances in all competitions and being named in the PFA Team of the Year.
Reports in Spain have suggested that the 21-year-old’s form has alerted Barcelona, who Bellerin left to join Arsenal in 2011, but the defender is paying no attention to such speculation.
“I say every year that England is my home now,” Bellerin said.
“I’ve lived there for many years; my family and my girlfriend are there. I’m very happy there so I don’t see myself anywhere other than Arsenal.”
The Spaniard made his first return to his former club in the Champions League earlier this season, when Arsenal were beaten 3-1 in the second leg of the round of 16 tie.
“How did it feel to play against Barca? For me, Barca was where I grew up since I was tiny, from eight years old,” he added.
“My dream when I was at Barca was to play at Camp Nou and I did – just not wearing the shirt I’d expected when I was little. It was something very special and beautiful.”
