Christian Benteke: Wants another season under Klopp

Christian Benteke has revealed his intentions to stay at Liverpool next season, despite not having an ideal first campaign on Merseyside.

The Belgian moved onto nine league goals for the season when he scored a late equaliser in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea, and the striker remains hopefully of taking part in the upcoming.

West Ham United are rumoured to be circling for the 25-year-old, with speculation that the Londoners are preapring a £25million bid to secure the striker.

However, Benteke admitted he only sees his future at Anfield, despite not having the desired impact in 2015/16.

“When I signed I didn’t sign for one year – I want to stay here next year,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I think I have the quality and the manager knows my strengths and weaknesses – I’ve no doubt (Klopp can make me better).

“I know I’ve had a tough season but I’m going to fight until the end. Everything can change so I keep focused and keep going for the team and myself.”

Klopp is expected to rest his anticipated starting XI for the Europa League final against Sevilla, meaning Benteke could start against West Bromwich Albion in the club’s final game of the league season.

“Of course, everyone wants to help the team win on Wednesday but we still have one more game on Sunday,” he said “We will then focus on the final.

“It is a massive game for us because we can win the Europa League obviously but we can get direct access to the Champions League. The club wants to be in there next year and we have to do our best.

“I try to do my best when the manager needs me. So we will see what’s going to happen and how different it will be next week.”
