Besiktas make enquiry for Anthony Martial

Turkish champions Besiktas are the latest club showing an interest in Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, according to a report.

Martial’s future at Old Trafford looks far from assured and he has been linked with a summer exit with West Ham and Lyon both interested, while last month Arsenal were understood to be ready to pay £40million for the Frenchman.

The 21-year-quickly denied those rumours, but he could still leave United this summer, despite still having two years, with an option of a further year on his contract.

And now Turkish sports channel ASpor have reported that Besitkas have made an enquiry to United regarding a temporary move.

They claim the Super Lig champions have contacted Martial’s agent and are expected to send club officials to England to try and negotiate a deal for the player.

With the club back in the Champions  League, Besiktas are hopeful a loan move with be beneficial for both parties, but United may have other ideas.

Reports suggest Inter Milan have also enquired about taking Martial on loan, butt United have refused that option and he will not be part of any deal that sees Ivan Perisic move to Old Trafford.

The Croatian is believed to be on the brink of signing for Jose Mourinho – a move which will push Martial further down the United pecking order.

Romelu Lukaku’s arrival already means Martial’s chances will be at a premium next season and it would be no surprise to see the former Monaco man change his mind about his situation.

In June, Martial tweeted “Les rumeurs sont fausses”, which translates to “the rumours are false”, and added a red emoji at the end, signifying his club Manchester United in response to speculation linking him with Arsenal.

Martial though willnot want another season like the last in which he managed just four goals in 25 appearances, as he drifted in and out of Mourinho’s first team.

His first season had delivered so much promised. He scored 11 Premier League goals in his debut season after arriving in 2015 in a deal that could be worth up to £58million depending on certain clauses being met by the player and club.
