Bilbao’s Laporte shuns Manchester United transfer talk

Aymeric Laporte has played down talk of a move to Manchester United or Barcelona by insisting he is settled at Athletic Bilbao and is looking to win more trophies.

The defender, regarded as one of the finest young centre-backs in Europe, has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester United.

The 21-year-old has a release-clause of around £35million, but appears committed to Bilbao after signing a new and improved contract extension earlier this summer.

“My name is mentioned in every transfer window and with a lot of teams,” Laporte told AS.

“I’ve renewed four times with Athletic. I’ve done what I wanted, I’ve shown confidence in the club and them in me.

“Let’s see if we can add more trophies.”
