Birmingham have completed the signing of Italian midfielder Diego Fabbrini from Watford for £1.5million.
Fabbrini spent the end of last season on loan at Birmingham, and has now has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Championship club.
The 25-year-old had been on loan at Middlesbrough and was scheduled to stay until the end of the season, but his deal at the Riverside was cancelled by mutual consent.
Fabbrini, who featured five times for Birmingham at the end of the 2014/15 campaign, made 26 appearances for Middlesbrough this season, scoring six goals.
Birmingham announced the deal on their official website, stating: “Blues have today completed the permanent signing of Italian midfielder Diego Fabbrini from Premier League side Watford.”
The club also confirmed that Fabbrini, who has signed a contract until 2019, will wear the number seven shirt for the Blues.
Fabbrini has one Italy cap to his name, and began his career with Empoli before moving to Udinese in 2011, and then making the switch to Watford in 2013.
