Blackpool v Huddersfield preview

The Seasiders have accrued just 25 points thus far in a miserable campaign and need one more to emulate the second tier’s worst ever haul of 26, registered by Stockport in 2001/02, since the 1988 expansion to 24 teams.

Manager Lee Clark is already without Tom Aldred (hamstring), Joe Lewis (ankle), Mark Waddington (foot) and Grant Hall (ankle), while his attacking options are stretched after Gary Madine limped off against Cardiff and Nathan Delfouneso was left out of the squad.

Converted right-back Tom Barkhuizen (shin) is again a doubt for a contest which will be preceded by the latest round of protests against the Blackpool hierarchy.

Huddersfield could be without midfielder Jonathan Hogg, who is struggling with a knee injury.

But on-loan Manchester United defender Reece James (groin) is expected to return to contention after missing last week’s home draw against Blackburn.

Striker James Vaughan stepped off the bench last week after shaking off a knee problem and winger Harry Bunn (hamstring) returned to the squad as an unused substitute. Both players are in contention.

Boss Chris Powell has confirmed development squad players Duane Holmes, Phillip Billing, William Boyle and Joe Wilkinson could also be in contention.
