Daley Blind: Has impressed at centre-back for Manchester United

Daley Blind feels “most comfortable” at centre-back for Manchester United but will have no problem moving to left-back or midfield if required.

Blind made the majority of his appearances as a midfielder in his first season at United but, following the captures of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger, has established himself as a first-choice centre-back alongside Chris Smalling in Louis van Gaal’s new-look side.

Blind has retained his place in the middle even since the injury suffered by Luke Shaw, with Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian filling in at left-back instead, and the 25-year-old says it is where he prefers to play.

“Of course now I feel most comfortable in the centre back position,” Blind told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. “There I play every week at Manchester United and I feel good.

“But I have not so much difficulty to play again at left back, central defender or midfielder. I know I can be an important link for this team. That’s what I show in lots of matches.”
