Bodin, 50, is no stranger to Vale manager Rob Page having worked in the coaching team for Wales under current boss Chris Coleman.

Page told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted to welcome Paul to Port Vale Football Club.

“He’s someone I know very well and I believe he will make a really positive impact here.”

Former Wales international Bodin had spells at Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Swindon and Cardiff as a player.

He moved into coaching in 2008 when he took charge of Swindon’s youth team and has also been a coach at Southampton.
